ABOUT DAMIAN HIRST AND HELEN CHADWICK
Damian HIRST produced ART WORKS, wonderful in TATE MODERN.....
1- SHELLS...
I sent him several shells, almost the same but extremely tiny.
All of them less than 1 millimeter.
Those shells are difficult to find as you peer for minutes at the down curve of the light waves at the beach near the splendid Monaco Bay Resort.
This " action " might be an Art work to answer his...I called it : De maximis et de minimis..... Which is also the name of a mathematical reasonning...
2- SHARKS, LIFE AND DEATH
To his Art work " The Physical Impossibility of Death in the Mind of Someone Living (1991) " ,
i answered by a simple drawing of " THE NARVAL TEETH "...
The subtitle of my Art work was : " Experimenting Alive, the behavior of the components of Light "...
Some narval teeth are so twisted they just resemble the Saint PIERRE in ROME 's columns, as RAPHAEL painted them.
This is also related to Helen CHADWICK 's work of Art " eat me "
This may be read as eyes ; opening the twist between magnetic field and electricity that create light ;
in order to discover " what might be there between those 2 " ?
3- THUS AM I WONDERING
if ( simply said) E= MC2 to quote pr. Albert EINSTEIN....E= MC2 = LIFE...
WHAT MIGHT BE THE EQUATION OF THE " CONTRARY OF LIFE " ?

ABOUT MATTHEW BARNEY
As Mrs G. Cizeron, a great curator in PARIS MOMA peered at my drawing " Jacob and Laban's goats " telling me " excellent mastering of drawing...This drawing was also inspired by Michael Angelo and Masaccio 's thinking about figuration...
Then she took me at the entrance of the Museum and invited me to visit Mr. BARNEY' S Cremaster...
allow me explain my views about CREMASTER
1-) the green ' willow " color is kind of a signature of Master Albrecht Durer and is surrounding the drawing up this page...
2-) Allegorie de la fecondité ( Praise to POMONA) by Jacob JORDAENS,
lif you look at the right lady sat , peering at a grape
this is a the key.....
Main ideas comes from the " still leben " or Nature morte in french.
3-) the pearl and the ribbons
A-) on the point of shape analogies, there is much to say between the BRAIN functionning, the spiral ( and other shapes of reasonning we are not studying here) and the ammonites or snail-home...
The eggs of snails are like pearls, transparent...
B-)The pearl idea comes then to litterature. The Masters of the Glassbead game by German Author Hermann Hesse is the book which describes the best what is happening everydaybetween " great Artist supported by great Curators ".....
There is the understanding of European Art History on the point of view of LOGIC... Then people have just to discover the step further.
4-) the car in the transparent box
Like Snow White, young generations " eat " the car addiction and they find often death.....
LIke a vertebral column for a Human, Cars are vertebral to the modern life...As the elements are made of something looking like " bones "
And also able to provide death.... ( this is a possible " answer to Andy Warhol car crashes )
5) the grand piano
A-) His foot is surrounded by potatoes... This is game with the french word for " culture " that also means agriculture....
And a game with the muscial notes also " round " but potatoes grows burried....
This is what happens to real music in modern world....
This is burried by the medias use of it.... " Hits " ( whatever their musical value might be, some are excellent indeed) grows as potatoes... lots of them... this is also a paradox for music creation in the modern world....
this poses the question of the definition of " music ".....
B-) this is also the meaning of cement pourred in the grand piano with a caviar silver spoon.....Who still need a real piano ?
my additionnal comment : who has listened ; for instance ; to the chamber music of Jean Baptiste LULLY for french king Louis XIV, in a wooden room ? I did... This is extraordinary...
6- ) MY EXHIBITION PROPOSAL TO " ANSWER " MATTHEW BARNEY WAS CALLED
" TRIGONE " Which is a part of the Brain and was conceived as a stroll in the Brain of a kid
though very educated in Art History.....
The Administration of Culture, in FRANCE, never answered my proposal.....

et que nous pouvons aborder dans une recherche d’esprit “ classique “ ;
“ universel “.
- nouveaux territoires ;
( on peut ainsi rapprocher la pourpre dans laquelle se love le Dieu de la fresque de La création d’Adam de Michel-Angelo de la coupe transversale d’une encéphale et des transits entre lobes et/ou entre substances blanche et grise) ;
(JP LUMINET-CNRS Meudon , l’univers chiffonné ) ;
- du cerveau
( l’esprit et l’ordinateur Pr. Roger PENROSE, univ. Oxford)
generic determinative think, speak, feel, eat, drink...
Or, selon le Professeur Jean LECLANT.

FERNAND LEGER FATHER OF POP ART..... ( MUSEE, BIOT, ALPES MARITIMES )
COLLOQUE FERNAND LEGER
MUSEE CHAGALL, LE VENDREDI 11 JUIN 2004
INTERVENTION DE SYLVIA CORNET
FERNAND LEGER :
LITTERATURE

MY DRAWING HIEROGLYPHS EXPERIMENT
NATURE ON LINE : LIGHT AS A FEATHER...
The ethnographic theory of Pr. Claude Levi-Strauss, developped through observation of humans living in Nature ; in Brazil ; and their relationship to langages, health and visuality is an interesting basis to start. One view that some tribes have a kind of design - writings other do'nt. Some can not even imagine how to start one ; some others, as they watch the ethnograph write catch the idea of doing it
also and write whatever comes in the mind of the chief...
Nature and Environment infer together in order to enhance life abilities and gifts.
This humble speech is inspired by the ressources of humanist thinkers’views as they provide interesting interdisciplinary parallels for humankind understanding.
For instance, Pr. Norbert Wiener ‘s cybernetics : design systems as ensemble of interactive elements. The exchanges obtained are communications. This leads to a great stability. For instance, the Mendeleiev board of elements may be seen also a " communications system between particles "...
Langage is build like dynamic systems. Drawing too, often.
FIRST STEP TO HIEROGLYPHS DISCOVERY
Among ancient langages, the Sumer writing is complex since abstract ; as also chinese.
On the contrary, kind of wisdom : the Hieroglyphs call for time & space & the environment all the way...The first tool is a falcon
feather who, as the light allows to draw shadows and clear spaces organising them into shapes that are closed, well surrounded.
The " writer "( drawing artist ) as to take time to observe things...
This position is also the position of scientists ; as described, for instance by pr. Werner Heisenberg, Nobel prize of physics...
And the second step is reproduce what has been observed
but in a very specific way and manner...Rules have to be discovered...
HIEROGLYPHS AS SHAPE DRAWINGS
Not like the drawing of Michel Ange for instance, very sculpted, the Hieroglyph designs the shape, the surrounding of " objects "...
The black line cuts the space into several pieces but the inside and / outside do not communicate.
As you learn drawing Hieroglyphs, for instance in Sir Alan Gardiner 's wonderful " Egyptian Grammar, Griffith Institute, Oxford ; you quickly view that lines and dots have to appear, following a specific order...
This order requires to be respected thus you remind better the signs...
And thought they look very static, this " speed " of appearing provides a kind of inner movement....
Another marvel is that you may " draw "( read /write ) Hieroglyphs from left to right, or the contrary and also from top to bottom or the contrary.....This is very much like what genius of mathematics Cantor described as mathematics : the essence of freedom..
HIEROGLYPHS AS LANGAGE
French linguist Monsieur Frédéric de Saussure has explained that langage bears several functions :
- the transmission of emotions
- the poetical expression
- the cognition mean
- the information tool
- the interrelations mean ; very close to the symbolic mean
The Hieroglyphs are a method of design ; but also a real langage as they bear also those functions.
But more, as you learn Hieroglyph you discover that secrete ( hermetic ) senses appear to your mind
when designing.
For instance, some very long word may hide scientific knowledge. If you know this knowledge, you easily recognize
it"s mental shape, or mental design inside the word expressed through Hieroglyphs.....
This is how, Hieroglyph writing, exactly as some part of mathematics ; of algebra are METALANGAGES.
This means they are several level of langages one over the other...
And the end what is produced is the expression of universal deep thoughts....
HIEROGLYPHS AS A METALANGAGE
As you design Hieroglyphs, your spirit is used to the possible meanings of their combinations ( but as music or numbers, they
are infinite).
Thus you discover anew the ancient method of the seven levels of language understanding
inserted in the ancient semitic papyrus.
HIEROGLYPHS AS A " LINK TO THE BRAIN "
Hieroglyphs, as you get more and more used to them seem to start a new function...
As you draw them, more and more easily but also more and more carefully in details,
your brain receive kind of sentences as
take care of proportions
the strength comes with measure
and so on....
This is the most incredible experience.... As if a drawing you are designing( following exact rules taught
in very antique times ; let ' s say almost 3 500 years before our days )
remains the nest of a certain philosophy of life that was like carved in it's process...
In the Hieroglyphs, each sign become then a kind of " living " entity.....able to communicate something else
at an upper level, each time you try hard to elevate yourself still more in dignity and nobleness through
unceasing efforts to do well... To represent things well....as much as your heart, your eyes
and your hands can achieve....
COMMENT
This drawing experiment was done by me, humbly, years 1995 to 1997. Everyday 5 AM, to be on time with the sunrise...
In the beautiful country of Languedoc Roussillon, France.

PARADOX OF DRAWING
Salvador DALI says that Drawing is 5% inspiration and 95 % of ( hard ) work.
Leonardo da VINCI said that Art, painting, drawing are COSA MENTALE....
Thus, isn't drawing as many activities, calling " PARADOXES " to be understood.....
As the Arrow by Zénon d' Elée ; Drawing is
1-) thought by the brain
2-) seen by the eyes
3-) performed by the hands....
Lots of links between all abilities of these " organs " to allow collaborating together
also with the generality of the personnality...
My drawing to express this PARADOX OF DRAWING would be :
1 -) a child, drawing under a supple willow tree
2 -) in the rising sun, butteflies around....
3 -) a lamb near him jumping on the grass, after grass hopers.....
Matters of IQ ? of knowledge ?? of birth gifts ???

RAPHAEL ' s HUMOUR IN A PORTRAIT
As one admires portrait of Count Balthassare de Castiglione 's portrait... The famous Ambassador, whose book about Courtesy is still very " uptodate ", allowed from RAPHAEL a great sign of frienship... Where ? As you look ; on the right side of the portrait ; at the shape of the " helmet " and it's shadow, you discover a very simple funny face laughing out loud.....
The drawing is as a kid's drawing with 6; 4 ; 2 numbers, so fun..... There is very frequently humour in Masterspiece...

GIOTTO's pupil : C. CENNINI to FRA ANGELICO
Cennonno CENNINNI... Whose wonderful and still accurate " Book of Art " was available in the Centre POMPIDOU's Library...
Cennonno CENNINNI provided all kind of advices from the early period of painting in Italy.
At those early times Princes ; always HEARTFUL of courage and goodwill ; were painted walking on tiptoes to remain sweet and respectful to the EARTH. Angels too were painted also tiptoing...Just refer to FRA ANGELICO 's ones....
From this period we keep the habit to show with the most little finger when we like to point out something beautiful ; and the discipline to behave courteously, trying to always think with elegance and behave far better beyond our best...
One main advice to painters was to remain sober (avoid alcohols drinks )... Many wisdom books from all over the planet EARTH say the same.... Let's guess together that being sober helps the brain to think freely and nicely ( including the Science aspects of Arts) and helps the hand to go on the most delicate flows for Art....Who knows ?

MARCEL DUCHAMP, CHILD GAMES AND ARTS
Just admire today how Art works sometimes... For instance the bike wheel from M. Marcel DUCHAMP has te linked to the ancient unit to measure angles : Gons... Whic, in french, sounds as Gonds : this piece of metal that allow doors to open.... Thus is the bike wheel with sunbeams as a door able to open to.....
My favourite are Yama Uba and Kitoki by Utamaro KITEGAWA ( Japan 1753-1806 ) and Natural History ; Kittens, Cover . when daddy was a little boy... from Rhymes of real children,( Jessie WILCOX SMITH, America 1863-1935 ) Published by Boston MFA...
And the french designer PECOUD who designed the whilds in La Comtesse de SEGUR 's tales and J. DUCHE in the History of Fauvette et ses frères by VAN DER HALDEN and LAVAUD...

SALVADOR DALI, THE GRAAL, ARTS & SCIENCES
The GRAAL is possible link to the country name " ARIMATHEE ", and this has very few to see with religions...
As we think, we express POINT OF VIEWS. Some may be discussed ( we could talk about all the History of personnalities who set up the ART of RHETORICS ) but some are facts. You just view.
For instance, as you peer at Salvador DALI'S LEDA ATOMICA... LEDA seems to hold nothing but AIR between her arms... This
" nothing " is very important... Because exactly at the time of the painting, the world has changed the way to measure a meter from a metallic rod to a WAVELENGTH...Thus Leda holds a Wavelength... How seduce better Zeus ?
The last painting of the Master Salvador DALI is called " LA QUEUE D' ARONDE "... Apart meaning the " tail of the SWALLOW " ; this is a wooden piece, fundamental in architecture...IT's shape recalls the GRAAL... Which, again resemble the plant in the hands of shepherds ( symbol of this human activity in middle egyptian hieroglyphs ; and next to the 1st Hebrew letter drawing) ; in middle egyptian, there also ; soul was represented somehow by a white circle ( or a Bee ) brought as a " slice of light "( twisting magnetic & electric fields ) to the newbabyborn by three " messengers "...
Nature is Universal. Messages are for Humankind as a Whole : they are for any Heart who opens the Door....A probable meaning of the GRAAL may be that LIGHT is the LIFE for the World... LIGHT as a way to decipher what is RIGHT ( or what is to avoid ) as we pretend to CIVILISATION...
So did the name ARIMATHEE humbly came as a place to " have courage at the right time "...
Special thanks to Mr. James GURNEY ( see Gurneyjourney.blogspot.com ; full of paintings extraordinary beautiful )
and Mr. Dan GURNEY 's ( see Misterkindergarten.blogspot.com ) and to scientific Mr. Jerry CHANDLER.
HAPPY GRACEFUL AND NICE 2008 TO ALL : 2008 minutes of mirth, health and joys everydays.
